Tonight is Apple’s big September 12th special event, speculation is rife about what might be coming. From rumours and leaks to popular theories and hints from Apple themselves, we’ve crawled the web to find everything we can about the big day.

Let’s start with what we think we know, which is that the new iPhone models will be called the iPhone XS and the iPhone XS Plus and will now be available in gold. Some pundits speculate that there’ll be a third new iPhone aimed at the budget market, featuring an LCD display instead of OLED and a little less RAM, though the A12 processor is said to be the same. Various leaked renders show all three devices, but there’s no official word from Apple themselves.

According to the rumour mill, the budget model will be called the iPhone 9 and will use Face ID like the other two new models. It’s said to also have a 12 megapixel camera, an aluminium frame and a smaller battery. All three new iPhones are expected to have glass backs, enabling wireless charging, too.

There’s also been a leak of the new Series 4 Apple Watch which suggests that it’ll be available in the same new gold colour as the iPhone XS, the iPhone XS Plus and the iPhone 9.

Expect changes when it comes to the screens, too. That’s because Apple supplier Corning has introduced Gorilla Glass 6, which is more of a brand new recipe then a minor tweak. This comes off the back of Apple’s huge investments in the company, so don’t be surprised if you see Gorilla Glass 6 introduced to all their new devices at the upcoming event.

There’s also good news when it comes to iOS, because iOS 12 will fix a bunch of bugs including screenshots being taken by accident and a clunky user experience when your attempt at using Face ID fails. You’ll also be able to add two different faces to Face ID if you share a device with someone else such as a spouse or a child.

All in all then, we can expect sweeping changes to Apple’s devices as they refresh them with the latest technology. We can look forward to everything from increased availability of devices to faster charging, as well as perhaps a few more surprises as Apple takes us through what’s new. One thing’s for sure – it’ll definitely be an event worth watching.
